Happy TU B’AV! Today is the 15th day of Av, which, according to the Talmud is one of the most joyous days of the Jewish year.
It was the beginning of the grape harvest, and grapes are a very important staple of the land of Israel. The Talmud tells us that unmarried women would dress in simple white dresses and young men would try to find a bride.
The lesson behind this might be simple, but it is deep: don’t look at the surface appearances so much, the character of the person is the most important, particularly when looking for a life partner. Until next time!
